I really do think living a healthy lifestyle is all about making healthy habits. It’s fine to treat yourself as long as you don’t hop off the train too long (even though I’m sure we have all been there). Here are my list of healthy habits I really think make a difference!
Drink a glass of lemon water at least once a day (the juice of a whole lemon in a cup of water. The benefits are crazy good for you. If it is too intense, add a few drops of stevia or raw honey. Hello healthy lemonade.
Drink a green smoothie every morning. Mine usually goes a little something like this… cup of almond milk, 2 huge handfuls of spinach, ½ frozen banana, scoop of protein powder, tablespoon of almond butter, cacao powder, chia seeds. I never really measure anything out unless there is a scoop already in the container.
Don’t keep unhealthy food at the house. Super simple, yet pretty tough to follow through with. Make yourself work to get unhealthy food. If I am craving something like a donut or ice cream, I now have to leave the house and drive to get it. It really does make you think twice how bad you want the treat.
Take the time to take care of your skin, you’ll thank yourself later. I am obsessed with skincare and will be doing a post on this very soon!
Meal prep a few things each week. It never hurts to have a few healthy things already prepared when you are in a pinch.
Keep your house organized and make sure every item has a “spot”. I am always so much more productive when the house is clean.
Don’t skimp on sleep. I used to go to sleep around 1 or 2 and have to be up at 6. This year I wanted to make an effort to get more sleep and I feel so much better. I wake up feeling fresh most days. There are still a few nights that I stay up late working or watching a movie on the weekends, but I’m all about balance!
80/20 rule (eat 80% healthy and 20% not so much). I love eating healthy and feel so much better when I do. With this being said, I also love a good treat. I am a sucker for ice cream and donuts. Treat yourself. Don’t do it everyday, but don’t be hard on yourself. If you want the damn donut, go get it! (And don’t feel bad about doing it).
Try new recipes to cook at home. Yes, I have my tried and true recipes, but there’s something about trying a new recipe and loving it. Try something different this week! Not only can you get bored of the same thing, but also it’s not good to eat the same foods every single day. You should aim to have a variety of foods to make sure you’re meeting your body’s nutritional needs.
Enjoy a coffee (or your drink of choice) by yourself and set some goals. There’s something about spending time alone for a few minutes that helps me recharge and get motivated!
Declutter your home… all parts of your home. Your closet, the junk drawer, the bathroom cabinet, etc.! Get rid of all the things you don’t use.
What is your best healthy habit? I wouldn’t mind adding another to my list. Talk to you soon!
